MEDIA ADVISORY: Cornel West To Headline D.C. Forum: The Urgency of Pursuing Peace in Ukraine As Part of Global Days of Action
Washington, DC - On October 3, CODEPINK and its partners will host an event featuring Cornel West, Claudia de la Cruz, Medea Benjamin, and Eugene Puryear. The event, co-sponsored by various peace organizations, aims to educate, inspire, and mobilize people to take action towards ending the conflict in Ukraine. This event is one of many included in call for a "Global Mobilization the week of September 30 - October 8 for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations," by an international coalition of peace groups.
This evening forum will serve as a call to action for those who are concerned about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. According to CNN's recent poll, 55% of people in the United States do not support spending more money on the Ukraine war. Yet, the White House responded by requesting another $24 billion, mostly for weapons and military training, to prolong the war and suffering in Ukraine. By coming together and demanding change, they believe that it is possible to create a more peaceful world.

The declaration from organizers called on "leaders in all countries to act in support of an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the war in Ukraine." It ended with a call for a "Global Mobilization the week of September 30 - October 8 for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations" to stop the killing.
