Call on the IRS to Revoke Non-Profit Status to Organizations Funding Ethnic Cleansing in Palestine!
US non-profit organizations are funding settler groups that are displacing Palestinians in Jerusalem and all over Palestine. Call on the IRS to revoke the non-profit status of these violent and racist organizations!
Dear Commissioner Rettig,
We, the undersigned, are demanding that the Internal Revenue Service revokes the non-profit status of groups like American Friends of Ateret Cohanim, American Friends of Yeshivat Ateret Yerushalayim, and other organizations that fund the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
American Friends of Ateret Cohanim, and countless other organizations that are classified as “nonprofits” in the United States, fund settler groups in Israel. Ateret Cohanim’s explicit purpose is to create a Jewish majority population in East Jerusalem. Money donated to Ateret Cohanim is used for land/house purchasing, and other tactics to displace Palestinians from their homes.
Right now in Silwan, Jerusalem 1,500 Palestinians face the imminent threat of home demolition. Israel, with support from settler organizations like Ateret Cohanim, ordered Palestinian families to demolish their own homes, or pay Israel to demolish them. These families have lived in their homes for generations, and Israel is clearing a path for more settlers and a religious theme park.
It is reprehensible that the people who make donations to organizations like American Friends of Ateret Cohanim that are funding apartheid get write offs and the organization itself gets tax breaks. These organizations are serving no purpose but violence.
We demand that all nonprofits that donate money to settler organizations in Palestine have their status revoked immediately.
