Trying to light the fuse to start a war in Iran or any other country which will not only kill tens of thousands of American troops but will potentiality kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people, is the workings of a psychopath.

I think Trump and the whole gang of politicians, newspapers and all the media stir themselves into a frenzy, and all reason is lost. I don’t believe the Iranian regime wants war with anyone. Trump has heavily armed those who would like to do great harm to the Iranian people; and an attack from them with US backing is I’m sure a cause for concern.

War could once be sold to the American public by the US Government via the Pravda newspapers and Pravda corporate television networks but a long list of war failures in Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Ukraine has perhaps changed the equation and now leaves the American people tired of war and of war promoters. Americans were polled prior to the embarkation to Iraq and seventy percent were opposed to the war as were most of W Bush’s fathers cabinet members. As the war dragged into the eighth year dragging down the American economy, eighty percent of the American people were polled unfavorable to W Bush and his warhawk VP polled in single digits. Father Bush learned the hard way about American views about war when after a decisive victory in Desert Storm, he was beaten at the polls by Democrat Bill Clinton with the Clintonites slogan “it’s the economy, stupid!” The failure of Obama’s wars in Libya, Syria, and Ukraine lead the American people to rate him poorest President in modern times in a Quinnipiac poll that placed him even lower in our estimation than W Bush and even Richard Nixon.

Thanks Mary. I will check out the two candidates you mentioned.

The majority of candidates just seem caught up in climate change, health care, college debt, criminal justice reform, impeachment, voting rights, trade and refugees…all important, but war with Iran (and the 8 other countries we’re fighting) are more important at the moment. Personally, I believe all of this business with Iran is to divert the American public from the Mueller report and Trump’s tax evasion. Also, I believe that a war with Iran would be a sure win for Trump as the country usually backs its president when there’s war…just my thoughts.

To Barbara Gravesen : It’s NOT TRUE that NO candidates are addressing these outrageous hideous wars. You must not have heard
of Tulsi Gabbard or Mike Gravel ! The mainstream media are, for the most part smearing her name – because they are in bed with
the corporations and the war machine… and they simply CAN’T have anyone declaring ANY Anti-war information !
Please , do us all a favor and look her up and then tell others about her message !

Seymour Hersh spilled the beans on a lot of the warmongering morons during the Vietnam War. My favorite was his story in THE PRICE OF POWER of the B-52 pilots who after fifteen or so B-52s had been shot down by Russian air defenses in Hanoi during the Christmas bombings near the end of the Vietnam War negotiations, told their commanding officers to go to hell, that would fly the missions no more. I’ll cheer the military on when they rebel against the succession of Pentagon puppet Presidents who use our military for their own langniappe. The Saudis(who bought the 45 th floor of the Trump Towers just before 911 are now clamoring for US intervention to save their helplessness from the mighty Iranians. It would cheer me to see Iran occupy Saudi Arabia and declare elections to democratize the peninsula like W Bush did in Iraq! Democracy now! And an end of the Pravda publications and Corporate news media who slavishly propagandize these wars to their bloody reality!

Again, our government is crying wolf re Iran and their nuclear weapons program, as it did with Iraq and Libya. Iran signed the U.N. Non Proliferation Agreement to allow U.N. inspectors in, as did Iraq and Libya. Israel will not allow U.N. inspectors in because they have thousands of nuclear weapons, according to Mordechai Vanunu, an Israel nuclear weapons scientist and Seymour Hersh, in his book “The Samson Option”. On the other hand, if our freedoms are threatened, start the draft.

New York Times never disliked a war at it again. This isn’t really new. Stop giving credence to what Trump calls ‘fake news’ Because you have on numerous times misinformed and obfuscated. Once again proving to be one America’s sources of propaganda and disinformation. I can only hope more people catch on. Stop being part of the problem and start doing your job as journalists rather then PR agent for the establishment. Make them uncomfortable and stop making my more difficult.

Apparently, The New York Times has learned nothing from its cheerleading for the Iraq War. It’s sad when a mainstream news outlet pushes “fake news,” because that’s how Trump and other would-be dictators characterize mainstream news in order to discredit it. In today’s world, The New York Times must retain (or regain) its credibility.

Let’s not enable another disastrous U.S. war of aggression.

This could be the big shebang! It is foolish to believe that we can militarily defeat the Iranians, Iraqis, Syrians, Turks, Russians, and Chinese. We probably would be waylaid by any one of these nation’s more battlehardened forces. We cannot fight a nuclear war with Russia and China. That might be nasty! Let’s straitjacket that foaming at the mouth Bolton and remind Trump of his campaign statement that he hated the Iraq War that Bolton engineered.

I am very disappointed that the Democrats in Congress are not taking the ability to wage war from the President, only Congress should be deciding whether to declare war on another country as it says in the Constitution. Trump is following the same pattern George W. Bush followed, when he started wars with Iraq and Afghanistan because he knew a war time president has an easy time getting reelected.

The Democrats in Congress are proving to be too center right and take money from Corporations whom they become beholden to. Congress need to be doing their Constitutional duty by impeaching the president which is our only hope from becoming an autocracy.

Congress should have by now started impeachment against the president and take the ability to declare war away. But the Congressional Democrats are not upholding their Constitutional duties that they have sworn to do when they took office.

The rights and will of the people of this country have become all but totally destroyed and irrelevant. This country has been moving for decades to becoming an oligarchy and an Autocracy, the rights of the people and our voices have been silenced for decades and one of the final stakes through the heart of democracy is the laws this country was founded on the Constitution are being totally ignored.
