A WAR IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC??? TELL SEN. GRASSLEY TO DO HIS JOB: STOP TRUMP FROM TAKING US TO WAR WITH IRAN

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, President Trump tweeted, “I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea.” Provoking a war in the middle of a pandemic?!?! Immediate action must be taken to impose constitutional restraints on Trump’s inclinations to endanger the Middle East and the entire world.

On February 13, the Senate passed an Iran War Powers resolution with a vote of 55-45 but Senator Chuck Grassley, the president pro tempore has been dragging his feet on bringing the bill to the president's desk. Tell him to do his job and move the bill along to the next stage already!

U.S. residents, fill out this form to contact Sen. Grassley and tell him to do his job.

Dear Senator Chuck Grassley,

This is urgent.

The assassination of General Qassim Soleimani—a man who had a popularity rating in Iran of over 80% because of his successful fight against ISIS- and U.S. airstrikes in Iraq before that brought us to the brink of war at the start of 2020. Now with Trump threatening Iran on Twitter as a way to distract from his gross negligence in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, we are heading to that brink again. Poll after poll in the U.S. states clearly that the American people do not want to be dragged into another war in the Middle East.

On February 13, the Senate passed an Iran War Powers resolution to prohibit Trump from using military action against Iran without congressional approval with bipartisan support and a vote of 55-45. On March 11, a companion bill passed in the House. However, you have dragged your feet at getting the bill to the necessary next stage. As president pro tempore, this is your job. As a person who is deeply worried about the possibility of a war with Iran — in the middle of a pandemic — I am calling on you to do your job. Move the Iran War Powers Resolution to President Trump’s desk already.

Sincerely,

We do not need to have a military action in Iraq. We need a peaceful world and set our minds towards health care for all Americans, cleaning up our climate and enter more positive relationships with our Allies who have lost trust with Mr. Trump and his lies.

Imagine the world we could be living in if the trillions of dollars wasted down the black hole of death and destruction in these endless wars had been spent on building peace instead.

The money spent on wars could be spent to give the poor people medical care, child care, and food. The social protection budget is always cut because we hear we are so much in debt. So poor people have to suffer and the military gets all the money to prepare for usless wars. We need to get out of these wars, let these countries settle their own problems, and respect their way of life. This Iran thing was all caused when Presient Trump enacted crippling sanctions on them. That General who was killed was actually trying to make a peace agreement of some kind. The government of Saudi Arabia does not want war and was trying to get that General to work with them and find a peaceful solution. Now all the progress made by other presidents and all those veterans who were killed in the Mid-East is being wasted and everyone is kept guessing what draft dogger Trump is going to do next!! Our country is a disaster because of his terrible agenda!! IInstead we need to find ways to cooperate with other countries to find solutions to climate change. This should be the most important goal of everyone. After all climate disasters such as floods, hurricanes, drought, famine, wild fires and record heat will effect everyone—it will not matter if a person is a Democrat or Republican!! Global Warming is an equal oppunity disaster and everyone may have to face hunger and lack of clean drinking water within 20 years!! Time to refocus and stop this tragedy from happening. In fact these wars will get worse as countries fight for the limited resources. It breaks my heart to see all those rare and exotic animals being killed in the Australia wild fires. These animals are unique to Australia, they are not found anywhere else in the World and now we are loosing them. People knew 40 years ago about the global warming problem but just ignored it and instead focused on all kinds of stupid crap. Now it is probably too late and at least 40% of the population is endangered because of the worsening climate crisis. Time for action and find ways to conserve and most of all pray, because it will take a miracle to save our planet. thankyou, CB

“That could bring total emissions to nearly one billion tons, equivalent to the greenhouse gas output from more than 218 large coal-fired power plants operating around the clock at full capacity,” the report continues, noting that the estimates “likely understate emissions growth from the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.”

    GHG emissions

Aided by both the Obama and Trump administrations, the expansion of the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries in the United States continues despite repeated and increasingly urgent warnings from experts that the U.S. fracking boom is threathening ecosystems and making people sick.
