On January 2, 2020, the Trump administration ordered the assassination of the second most important person in Iran, General Qassim Soleimani. This was the culmination of increasingly reckless U.S. behavior against Iran, beginning with Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Deal. The assassination of Soleimani violated U.S. law since it was carried out without congressional approval.

We are now on the brink of a disastrous all-out war in the Middle East. The House will vote on Thursday, January 30 on Rep. Khanna’s bill H.R.5543 to prohibit funding for the U.S. to carry out military actions against Iran without prior congressional authorization and Barbara Lee’s bill to repeal the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF).

Fill out this form to contact your rep and tell them you want them to vote YES!

Dear U.S. Congress,

This is urgent and dire. I am writing to you to ask you to ask you to stop Trump from going to war with Iran. A war with Iran that would likely be worse than the disastrous U.S. war with Iraq was. This is dangerous and you must act now by VOTING YES on Rep. Khanna’s bill, H.R.5543, to prohibit funding for the U.S. to carry out military actions against Iran without prior congressional authorization as well as Barbara Lee’s bill to repeal the 2002 AUMF when they come to a vote on Thursday, January 30, 2020.

The assassination of General Qassim Soleimani—a man who had a popularity rating in Iran of over 80% because of his successful fight against ISIS- and U.S. airstrikes in Iraq before that have brought us to the brink of war. Thousands of additional US troops have been deployed to the Middle East and the U.S. is insisting on remaining in Iraq despite a clear message from the Iraqi people that they want us to leave. Poll after poll in the U.S. states clearly that the American people do not want to be dragged into another war in the Middle East.

The blame for the present crisis rests squarely on the doorstep of the White House. The Trump administration’s reckless decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and revert to the U.S. policy of threats and sanctions is backfiring—as predicted.

As your constituent, I am asking you to vote yes on H.R.5543 to prohibit funding for the U.S. to carry out military actions against Iran without prior congressional authorization as well as Barbara Lee’s bill to repeal the 2002 AUMF

Imagine the world we could be living in if the trillions of dollars wasted down the black hole of death and destruction in these endless wars had been spent on building peace instead.

The money spent on wars could be spent to give the poor people medical care, child care, and food. The social protection budget is always cut because we hear we are so much in debt. So poor people have to suffer and the military gets all the money to prepare for usless wars. We need to get out of these wars, let these countries settle their own problems, and respect their way of life. This Iran thing was all caused when Presient Trump enacted crippling sanctions on them. That General who was killed was actually trying to make a peace agreement of some kind. The government of Saudi Arabia does not want war and was trying to get that General to work with them and find a peaceful solution. Now all the progress made by other presidents and all those veterans who were killed in the Mid-East is being wasted and everyone is kept guessing what draft dogger Trump is going to do next!! Our country is a disaster because of his terrible agenda!! IInstead we need to find ways to cooperate with other countries to find solutions to climate change. This should be the most important goal of everyone. After all climate disasters such as floods, hurricanes, drought, famine, wild fires and record heat will effect everyone—it will not matter if a person is a Democrat or Republican!! Global Warming is an equal oppunity disaster and everyone may have to face hunger and lack of clean drinking water within 20 years!! Time to refocus and stop this tragedy from happening. In fact these wars will get worse as countries fight for the limited resources. It breaks my heart to see all those rare and exotic animals being killed in the Australia wild fires. These animals are unique to Australia, they are not found anywhere else in the World and now we are loosing them. People knew 40 years ago about the global warming problem but just ignored it and instead focused on all kinds of stupid crap. Now it is probably too late and at least 40% of the population is endangered because of the worsening climate crisis. Time for action and find ways to conserve and most of all pray, because it will take a miracle to save our planet. thankyou, CB

“That could bring total emissions to nearly one billion tons, equivalent to the greenhouse gas output from more than 218 large coal-fired power plants operating around the clock at full capacity,” the report continues, noting that the estimates “likely understate emissions growth from the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.”

    GHG emissions

Aided by both the Obama and Trump administrations, the expansion of the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries in the United States continues despite repeated and increasingly urgent warnings from experts that the U.S. fracking boom is threathening ecosystems and making people sick.

Trump’s actions to push into war are part of his political agenda to not allow the American people the time & money needed to vote for our next President. He knows he is in danger of losing. We need to stay focused on our internal problems, such as creating fair & healthy regulations for border control, dealing with our health care crisis & infrastructure crumbling. We certainly need to seriously address taking our foot off the petal toward climate change. We need to do all we can to stop contributing to the planet heating up.

Please do not allow our resources, & emotional health to be tied up in this unjust war. Thank you.
