The last thing this nation needs or any other nation is another manufactured war. Trump has seemingly been given the green light to do whatever he wants but we need to make sure our elected politicians understand they are there by virtue of our votes. Let’s hold them accountable over this most important issue.

Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron”. I ask, “Is it worth the cost to bully and go to war over a contract the United States reneged on”?

I beg you with all my heart to avoid war with Iran at all costs. I fear that will bring about an unimaginable catastrophe for our troops, Israel, Iraq and millions of innocent people in all the affected Countries. There is no need for this. Iran is not a threat to the US. I know Israel wants this war. I really do not know why. But if they want it so badly, then let the Israeli’s start the war. I am beyond sick of our endless wars. Haven’t we caused enough suffering. I long to love and belong to a Country of peace and diplomacy. Please exercise extreme restraint.

    Peace XVIII by Khalil Gibran
The tempest calmed after bending the branches of the trees and leaning heavily upon the grain in the field. The stars appeared as broken remnants of lightning, but now silence prevailed over all, as if Nature’s war had never been fought.

At that hour a young woman entered her chamber and knelt by her bed sobbing bitterly. Her heart flamed with agony but she could finally open her lips and say, “Oh Lord, bring him home safely to me. I have exhausted my tears and can offer no more, oh Lord, full of love and mercy. My patience is drained and calamity is seeking possession of my heart. Save him, oh Lord, from the iron paws of War; deliver him from such unmerciful Death, for he is weak, governed by the strong. Oh Lord, save my beloved, who is Thine own son, from the foe, who is Thy foe. Keep him from the forced pathway to Death’s door; let him see me, or come and take me to him.”

“Do not be frightened, for I am now Truth, spared from swords and fire to reveal to the people the triumph of Love over War. I am Word uttering introduction to the play of happiness and peace.”

Then the young man became speechless and his tears spoke the language of the heart; and the angels of Joy hovered about that dwelling, and the two hearts restored the singleness which had been taken from them.

At dawn the two stood in the middle of the field contemplating the beauty of Nature injured by the tempest. After a deep and comforting silence, the soldier said to his sweetheart, “Look at the Darkness, giving birth to the Sun.”

Quietly a young man entered. His head was wrapped in bandage soaked with escaping life.
He approached he with a greeting of tears and laughter, then took her hand and placed against it his flaming lips. And with a voice with bespoke past sorrow, and joy of union, and uncertainty of her reaction, he said, "Fear me not, for I am the object of your plea. Be glad, for Peace has carried me back safely to you, and humanity has restored what greed essayed to take from us. Be not sad, but smile, my beloved. Do not express bewilderment, for Love has power that dispels Death; charm that conquers the enemy. I am your one. Think me not a specter emerging from the House of Death to visit your Home of Beauty.

I’m encouraged by the comments on this thread and the hard, ongoing work of CODEPINK. I would just add that we must make the Climate Crisis a major talking point as well — in all forums. It is an existential crisis, and it is also a crisis that will bring more war: over water, refugees, land, etc.

Kudos to those calling out McConnell. We truly do not have a system of checks and balances when one career politician, bereft of conscience or conviction, can just block any bill he wishes. (Ditto Trump for that, of course.) I read a critical bio on McConnell and regard him as one of key problems for the state of the country, and by extension, the world. Incidentally, the book (very easy read) is: The Cynic: The Political Education of Mitch McConnell by Alec MacGillis.

I will continue to tell every person I meet throughout the day about Cocaine smuggling Mitch McConnel and his lack of representation of me. He can still save his soul by repenting. REPENT MITCH MCCONNELL. NO MORE DEATH TO YOUR CONSITUENTS IN WAR! NO MORE DEATH IN HELPING TO RUN FACIST CONCENTRATION CAMPS ON THE BORDER, NO MORE DEGREDATION OF THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT BY YOUR SUPPORT OF TRUMP.

The sanctions and war bluster comming from the
Three B’s to quote Trita Parsi , are nothing other than an attempt to provoke war with Iran.
The sanctions alone have crippled Iran’s
economy . The U.S in it’s incessant need for regime
change , proves only that we have zero respect for
other nations unless they are doing our bidding.
What can regular U.S citizens do to stop the
carnage and destruction ? media outlets are
complicit when they do not provide enough
background information and the facts that
would justify such a radical response .
Have we learned nothing from Iraq ?

Contriving and fabricating justifications for arbitrarily imposing sanctions and declaring war on countries around the world shows up America as a schoolyard bully and provocative aggressor. It does not make America great again nor the land of the free or for the free.
