In a sign of capitulation to President Trump, the majority of Democrats in Congress doubled down on “border security” by approving $1.5 billion to fund Trump’s border wall. While the Democrats throw immigrants under the bus, the President continues to push his racist wall building agenda and is now claiming we are in a “national emergency.”

Congress needs to take action to stop Trump's attempted power grabs to fund his illegal and deadly border wall. One way to do this is by passing a Congressional resolution to disapprove of the so-called “national emergency.” This resolution of disapproval, if it receives ⅔ of the vote in the House and Senate, will stop Trump fully.

The true emergency at the border is the abuse of migrants and border communities by ICE. The emergency is the flow of US weapons to Mexico and Central America. The emergency are the thousand of migrant deaths in the desert. The national emergency is that thousands of migrants, including children, are locked up in for-profit immigrant detention centers.

Migration is natural. Borders are not. Where there are border walls militarization, there will be death.

Where there is border militarization, there will be profits for Elbit Systems, the Israeli weapons company which provides technology to both the Israeli military and the US Department of homeland. Elbit provide surveillance for the separation wall that snakes through the West Bank and since 2004, they been cashing in on contracts for surveillance drones and towers on the US-Mexico borderlands which make the dessert a more dangerous place for migrants and for local communities.

Please take action by calling and emailing your Congress members and tell them to support a resolution to deny Trump his so-called “national emergency.”
