May 25-June 4, 2020 CODEPINK Citizen Diplomacy Peace Delegation to Iran

As the coronavirus continues to batter Iran—thousands infected and hundreds dead—and is now starting to bear down on the U.S., we are left with no option at this time but to postpone the May-June, 2020 People to People Diplomacy Peace Delegation to Iran.
We are hoping to reschedule the trip for September 2020.

No Sanctions, No War, Peace with Iran

We are deeply concerned with the rising tensions between the United States and Iran. The Trump administration’s reckless policies are leading us towards another disastrous war in the Middle East, this time with Iran. As we teeter on the brink of war, we are encouraged us to renew our friendships with the common people of Iran, the primary victims of U.S. sanctions and those who will suffer and die if a war breaks out. Despite all the suffering the U.S. has imposed on Iran—regime change, sanctions, violence, threats of war—the Iranian people continue to show how well they understand the difference between the American government and the American people. The Iranian people love Americans.

CODEPINK led two people-to-people-diplomacy delegations to Iran in 2019. Our delegates, without exception, experienced the famous hospitality that Iranians are known for. Come with us and experience the culture, beauty, and hospitality for yourself. Join the May-June 2020 CODEPINK Citizen Diplomacy Delegation to Iran. Upon your return, you will join a nationwide network of grassroots citizen diplomats working to prevent war and change U.S. foreign policy. Hand-in-hand we can build mutual understanding and respect with the people of Iran.

Cost of the trip is approximately $3200 per person (depending on airfare costs) and will cover visa fees, international airfare, three delicious meals per day, accommodations, domestic transportations in Iran, museum and other entrance fees.

February 24, 2020: Travel to Iran with CODEPINK Informational Webinar

CODEPINK led two delegations to Iran in 2019. The groups met with representatives of the Iranian Foreign Ministry and Parliament, visited Tehran Peace Museum and the former US embassy, met with professors, students, filmmakers, artists, poets, and other cultural workers, explored the bustling bazaars, enjoyed the unique food, and much more. We are excited to be organizing more delegations in 2020 to promote peacebuilding and citizen diplomacy with the people of Iran.

About our trip organizer: Leila Zand has been arranging delegations to Iran for many years. As an Iranian born Iranian-American peace activist, she is incredibly skilled in citizen diplomacy and travel to Iran. She will help you with an in-depth understanding of Iranian cultural norms and traditions and will walk you through the visa application process. Before the delegation departs, she will hold a 1-day training and education session to familiarize you with the other delegates and give you an idea of what to expect once you arrive on the ground in Tehran.

Delegation program highlights are subject to change but will likely include:

  • A visit to the Museum of Peace and meetings with its members
  • Interaction with filmmakers, professors, artists, poets, and other cultural workers
  • Opportunities to learn about the effect of US and EU sanctions on Iran.
  • Explorations of the bustling Tajrish and Grand bazaars to learn about the important role they play in Iranian commerce and culture
  • Visits beautiful parks and mosques decorated with intricate and colorful mosaic designs
  • Tehran's famous Sa'dabad Palace (summer residence of the Qajar Dynasty) and Golestan Palace.
  • Learn about Islam, Judaism, and Christianity as practiced in Iran. Meetings with religious leaders and scholars
  • The beautiful cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Yazd
