CNN: Rehire Marc Lamont Hill

On November 29, 2018, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill was fired from CNN for a speech he gave to the United Nations in support of Palestinian rights.

Help us tell CNN they did the wrong thing. Tell CNN to rehire Dr. Hill!

Dear CNN,

You made the wrong choice by firing Marc Lamont Hill for his speech at the UN, which included the phrase "from the river to the sea." Speaking up for Palestinian rights is not anti-semitic or a threat to Israelis.

As Dr. Hill said in regard to the speech he gave to the UN that caused him to be fired:

“My reference to “river to the sea” was not a call to destroy anything or anyone. It was a call for justice, both in Israel and in the West Bank/Gaza. The speech very clearly and specifically said those things. No amount of debate will change what I actually said or what I meant.”

Dr. Hill’s speech received a long ovation from the diplomats at the UN.

Marc Lamont Hill is a powerful defender of civil and human rights for all people. He is a powerful ally for the Palestinian people who live under siege, under military occupation and under state laws of discrimination.

As people concerned with freedom for the Palestinian people and justice and equality for all people, we ask that you immediately rehire Marc Lamont Hill.

The Klan can march through the streets. Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists and the like, are allowed to push racism unhindered. All in the name of the first Amendment…

Mark Lamonte Hill, asks for the human Rights of the people of Gaza to be recognized, yet in this, the freedom of speech is questioned…

This is the biggest attack on Civil Rights, I’ve seen in my lifetime. There is no slippery slope to see here. We are in full free fall…

How racist of CNN to fire him for speaking up for Palestinian rights! I suspect they wouldn’t have fired him if he had spoken up for Israeli rights and if they had, they would be called, antisemitic. It seems that it’s fine to speak up for any rights, apart from Palestinian, in case it spoils the America’s relationship with the racist state of Israel. It’s not really about Jews – many of us are very against Israel’s crimes against humanity and human rights abuses.

CNN should understand much like how their anchor sees things from how the world percieves monumental Palestinian issues and according to how media can ‘chip in’ solution measures, not fire people who says what ought to be the voice we all should be shouting about, isn’t it CNN?

I’m a British Jew whose grandparents fled pogroms in eastern Europe over a hundred years ago to find safety in the UK. I cannot condone a state which terrorises Palestinian communities. Marc Lamont Hill did no more than assert their rights under international law. It is shameful for CNN to dismiss him. Please reinstate this principled man.

I am a Jewish American who spent time in the Israeli occupied Palestinian West Bank and saw with my own eyes what life is like for Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid and military occupation. I strongly support Marc Lamont Hill and am disgusted that his words are disingenuously being misportrayed as ‘anti-Semitic’, especially at a time when REAL anti-Semitism has turned literally deadly. By misconstruing anti-Zionism as anti-Semitism, you are denying Palestinians their basic human rights, silencing one of the most important voices of our time and putting American Jews in more danger by making people take anti-Semitism on the whole less seriously because of false claims of it like this one. If anyone is guilty of bigotry here, it is those who would silence a black man and deny Palestinians their liberation in favor of defending colonialism, ethnic cleansing and ractual apartheid. Bring back Marc Lamont Hill now!!!
