We have been told that being effective at creating change requires big actions, big impacts, and visible, data-driven results. This belief is the War Economy lying to us once again. When we believe that we can do good in the world only when our actions are on a large-scale, it disincentivizes us to show up at all. It convinces us that apathy and cynicism is the logical response to large problems.
The Local Peace Economy understands that small actions directed at supporting and empowering our communities can have powerful effects, often unseen or understood by the activist themself. When we act with love and care within our circle of influence, those actions can ripple out to others in ways we cannot control or even see.
"No matter what you do it will never amount to anything but a single drop in a limitless ocean. What is an ocean but a multitude of drops.” ― David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas
