May 24th is the International Women’s day for Peace and Disarmament a day they are using to raise up the cost of weapons and war to the planet. It is the day before US Memorial Day – a day that has been used to almost celebrate war. We choose to focus on peace and disarmament on Memorial Day weekend. So there are no more dead from war who need to be remembered.
In Los Angeles we are meeting at the Santa Monica Airport Parking lot, SE corner of Airport and Centinela to decorate our cars and spell PEACE with our cars. After it is photographed by a drone, we will drive down Ocean Park to PCH up to Sunset and back to Ocean Ave down the beach to Washington. A few cars will take all the collections and distribute them to Venice Community Housing Corp and LA Tenants Union. Akasha’s is preparing 50 brown bags to add to our collection to deliver.
One group will drive to Venice Housing Community, another to LA Tenants Union in East Los Angeles.
Signage: Make your own signs if you can (or use window paint); we will have some extra signs if you need them. Some themes are: Peace, Global Ceasefire; No Sanctions, No War, HealthCare Not Warfare, War is Not Green, Divest from War or make an image that speaks your heart. Feel free to make peace flags and fully decorate your car.
COVID safety measures: We encourage you to stay in your cars; If you get out, make sure you keep a safe distance and wear masks.

Toothbrushes
Travel size toothpaste
Razors
Travel size shampoo and conditioner
Non-perishable food (peanut butter, lite weight cans of tuna, ham, etc., dried Fruits and nuts, beef jerky & dried meats, canned fruits and veggies)
Toilet paper
Cleaning supplies (Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizers, Mask and Disposable Gloves)
School supplies
And we are asking that people bring things to donate in bags with handles!
Decorating your cars is not mandatory! We can decorate it for you at the parking lot while you stay safely inside.
