The public deserves to know if President Biden undermined Congress in secretly ordering his staff to plan an attack. We need Congress to hold hearings on the Nord Stream explosions.

I agree, Medea must speak at the rally on February 19. I, too, am unhappy with some of the speakers, but plan to fly from Seattle to be at this important event. Nothing has worked so far to reverse the war machine. Joining with those with whom we don’t agree on other issues is what we need to do. Backing out of this event does not reflect well on CodePink.

Medea Benjamín must speak at the Feb 19 Rage Against the War Rally. Per Chris Hedges: She is one of the nation’s most important and effective left-wing and anti-war activists. “We will not topple corporate power and the war machine alone. There has to be a left-right coalition… or we will remain marginalized and ineffectual,” Hedges says.
I agree. This is a crucial moment. Code Pink board is free to offer disclaimers that being part of this rally in no way affects or changes its stand on other human rights and progressive issues. As if anyone really thinks it would.

I added the following sentence to my letter: If true, this is an act of terror, and act of war and for Biden, an impeachable offence. We need to stop this madness before it leads to a mushroom cloud.

It’s too bad that Manichean thought continues to dominate discussions of peacemaking. I recommend this essay on the dilemma of peace (today) in Europe: https://go.ind.media/webmail/546932/1244491378/b1434383964bef6170e3b27d5801392f84253bb635ab31c49e45bf518267bce5

I tend to agree with most of previous comments except where there is any blame against Russia for invading Ukraine. The U.S. forced Russia to have to invade by: orchestrating with neo-Nazis in Ukraine the coup in 2014 against an internationally recognized elected government, supporting the 7 years of bombing and harassment of the people in the Dombas and Crimea regions killing 14K people, the U.S. role in squashing any peace deal years and months before and after the invasion and the continued escalating increase in the level of military supplies and equipment to Ukraine military. Look at the geography Ukraine is like a dagger into the heart of Russia used by Napoleon, the European-US white army to stop 1917 revolution, Nazi Germany and others to invade Russia. However, Ukraine is also a dagger into the heart of Europe. Ukraine should be a perfect neutral (Switzerland like) nation with no NATO, Russian or Ukraine offense military. That is all that Russia was asking for many months (before its invasion) which was continually refused and ignored by the U.S. NATO and Ukraine. Russia made it clear that Ukraine was a redline it would not accept in NATO or militarized by the U.S. and NATO. The Russia-Ukraine Waris totally the responsibility of the U.S. and NATO. Russia will never give up the land bridge it is establishing to Crimea. That land is now lost to Ukraine. The longer the U.S. promotes the war the more loss of life, destruction of Ukraine and seizure of land will occur. https://progressiveissuesblog.wordpress.com/2022/07/10/ukraine-2/

The U.S. has become an extremely fascist military industrial complex. We help defeat Nazi Germany only to become like them with more power and control than ever imaged by Hitler himself. Most all of the left has allowed this to happen by its blind capitulation to the Government’s 9/11 inside job despite the massive evidence proving the entire Government/Corporate Media (Military-Industrial Complex, Fascist Government) is a total lie. https://progressiveissuesblog.wordpress.com/2021/09/07/the-9-11-attack-government-conspiracy/

Now the left has again engaged in equally blind capitulation to the Government/Pharma Covid-19 narrative, censorship and controls, despite massive facts and information to the contrary. It has been disgusting that so many in the left have joined in the censorship of the truth and the ridiculing of those brave enough to stand up to the tyranny of the military industrial complex that rules the United States and much of the war! https://progressiveissuesblog.wordpress.com/2021/08/12/coronavirus-covid-19-research-history-index/

It’s appalling that Medea Benjamin has caved to the Professional Left Sectarian Class and will not attend the Rage Against the War Machine in Washington DC on Feb. 19, apparantly because there will be conservatives in attendance and who will speak, and that somehow that would taint the brand of Code Pink if their co-founder was shown at the same event with her fellow Americans who are trying to organize MILLIONS to stop a potential nuclear armageddon. I hope Medea’s friends Max Blumenthal and Chris Hedges, who will both be at the rally, can talk some sense into Medea and tell her to defy her own organization and show up anyway. I mean, what is the real goal, Code Pink, if you’re going to play into divide/conquer tactics set up by warmongering Democrats? As an American, I don’t care what your political persuasion is or what your ideas are about other issues. If you’re opposed to what the US empire is doing, their efforts, no matter the costs, including killing everyone on earth in order to retain US hegemony and thirst for full spectrum dominance over all from below the seas to high above the clouds, then what is the point of your organization if you’re going to shy away FOR POLITICAL REASONS from solidarity movements to end this madness? Because there might be someone there you don’t like?? Welcome to life, ladies! You’re supposed to be AGAINST war! It’s your tagline. Come on, Medea! Don’t force me to STOP MY SUPPORT to Code Pink. Because I’m hanging by a thread here at this point.

As your constituent, I urge you to hold hearings on the Biden administration’s reported role in blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline in a crime against the environment. In, “How America Blew Up the Nord Stream Pipeline,” NY Times contributor Seymour Hersh details how President Biden bypassed Congress weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine to secretly order the destruction of Russia’s natural gas pipeline in order to maintain energy dominance.

I realize, as Biden has stated publicly, the US Gov’t wishes to “weaken Russia”, but is blowing up Nord Stream one way to do it? While messing up the Environment as well?

And is hatred as seen in “weakening Russia” the right approach to Peace and mutual existence?! Even though Putin is indeed an anti-democratic treacherous leader who poisons dissent and the challenges to his authority, and attacks a sovereign country, Ukraine, with no violent provocation from Ukraine.

There ARE better solutions: starting with CONSISTENT calls for ceasefire and mediated negotiations, even while strong military defense of Ukraine may be occurring. We need actions to save lives, and to avert war and the horrific war crimes (that, yes, should be prosecuted even now).

And isn’t the blowing up of Nord Stream a type of war crime? And a crime against the Environment?

From CNBC: “Climate scientists described the shocking images of the methane erupting from the burst as a “reckless release” of greenhouse gas emissions that, if deliberate, “amounts to an environmental crime.”

Methane gas is reportedly 80 times more toxic per molecule than carbon dioxide.

Just as the US invasion of Iraq may have provided Putin with the dangerous precedent to invade Ukraine, Biden’s attack on Nord Stream could set a precedent for others to attack US infrastructure and incite heavy backlash.

Please hold hearings to investigate the Biden administration’s alleged role in sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline.

Thank you for your work for justice and peaceful co-existence, rather than merely countering “convenient” enemies.

This is very typical of media persuasion campaigns. A lot of what is considered news consists of narratives fed into the echo chamber of the media, where it is repeated endlessly. Even though it would be ridiculous for Russia to blow up her own pipeline, many were convinced that was the case.

Although i am still registered as a Democrat, I am now an independent.

Imagine if the Russian president really was a madman? Who could blame him from retaliation. Mr. Putin and his wise ministers have chosen to allow cooler heads to prevail. This is an act of terrorism. It is an act of war. As an American I find myself embarrassed, again, by the US government.

Biden said he was going to stop the Nord Stream pipeline and he did.
Not through diplomacy or sanctions but by blowing it up.
That is a war crime and an attack on the environment.
If this goes to Capitol Hill I suspect it will just be covered up. This needs to go to the United Nations.

Personally ashamed of the US Federal Governments behavior towards any country the we can’t control to our own advantage. US greed and aggression must stop, world order is going to change and the US will be knocked off its pedestal.

This letter was poorly written, indicating an intent by the writer to please the neocons by blaming Russia, and to make this about “green” issues when the crime of aggressive war is far more damning. I had to extensively re-write the letter before I could put my name to it. Here’s what I came up with:

“As your constituent, I urge you to hold hearings on the Biden administration’s reported role in blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline. In, “How America Blew Up the Nord Stream Pipeline,” NY Times contributor Seymour Hersh details how President Biden bypassed Congress during the same time frame that the coup regime in Ukraine was dramatically escalating its attacks on its own citizens in the Donbas. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s alleged role in this act of terrorism underscores the vile hypocrisy of his claim that the Russian entry into the war was ‘unprovoked.’

Please hold hearings to investigate the Biden administration’s alleged role in sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline."

The rule of law and justice are no longer to be observed during this period when the usa is frantically clinging to any semblance of being the ‘World Leader’. Unfortunately for humanity, the usa is very likely to deploy its military might as the last-gasp measure to retain control over the subsequent death-and-destruction that remains for the `conqueror´. Also known as a Pyrrhic victory.
