GUIDELINES

Banning and criminalizing people will build more hate and make the U.S. and the world a less safe place; this will separate families, create division, and grow wars. Our ideals and principles are of peace and justice- we work for our rights and the rights of the most vulnerable. It is time to pick which side we are on and be brave together.

Post these posters in on your front door, front window, on your car, the office message board, local community bulletin boards, your local coffee shops & businesses, and/or in other spaces. Find places to declare your values and affirm that we welcome, honor, support and respect people from different religions, cultures, races, and countries. Sharing these posters with other people is an opportunity to start conversations about the #NoBanNoWall movement. They are a tool for starting dialogue about how we can resist the racist, misogynist, xenophobic, ableist narratives and policies the current administration is bringing, as we create the places, the communities, the world we want and need.

Don’t just hand it to someone to post! Get to know others, take the chance to start dialogue and connection. “I just posted this in my window, would you like to do the same?” Plan in advance what the next step might be -- a gathering of neighbors in a week, joining you at a local organizing event, etc.  Be prepared to take it further than the sign-posting. It is all about growing our community muscle of connection and love. Be ready to share your experiences this week.

1. Order, print or draw/paint a couple of these images

  • Order them via our store!

  • To print: You can chose from two sizes, 8.5 x 11 inch flyers or/and 11 x 17 inch flyers (find above). Download them, print them at home or take them to your local print shop.

    • Ask your local print shop to make it a poster-like print, or any option you prefer

    • You can also print out segments of the graphic on a regular printer and cut/paste onto matte board

2. Share with your friends, community members, family, at local spaces (coffee shops, grocery stores, churches, mosques, synagogues, parks)

  • Knock on neighbors doors - introduce yourself, hand out posters and share with them why is it important that we support and rise for refugees and immigrants - don’t lose connection, grow relationships with them

  • Give posters to your favorite coffee shops, local grocery stores, art spaces, parks, etc. and share why is it so important that local businesses and public spaces rise for refugees and immigrants, and create safe spaces for them, and all of us

  • Bring posters to family and friend reunions and why they should be rising with you

3. Share pictures and your experiences on our Facebook, Twitter, and email.

We want to live in a country that welcomes all people. We want to support the values that honor, respect and protect all people. We can not move towards this vision without resisting bans and walls that divide us and building together. We will #BuildBridgesNotWalls.

What are your thoughts? What are the values you want to follow? Share with us!

“Lots more wars on us may they stop as they get between us in our powers, relationships, may we win em transforming violence, war into seeds, fruit, freedom flow. Lots of spaces for us to connect, bridge, heal greater love and power together” - Mariela Saba

As you get ready to take action, check out the new administration's track on assaults on community development.

Some wise advice:

1. Don't use his name;

2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;

3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work;

4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;

5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;

6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;

7. Reach to communities who are most vulnerable.

8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;

9. Take care of yourselves; and

10. Resist as you build! Do at least one thing a day
