Emily Dorrel

Emily is an artist and activist from Los Angeles, CA. She recently obtained her MA in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge, where she specialized in Critical Cultural studies. Channeling her activism into academia, she used higher education as a platform to critique US capitalism, white ethnocentrism, sexism and the politics of space. While at CSUN, she performed with CSUN’s Performance Ensemble: Creative for Social Change and worked alongside Reverend James Lawson to teach nonviolent resistance through CSUN’s Civil Discourse and Social Change Initiative (CDSC).
