We believe it’s outrageous for public employee retirement systems to make a killing on killing, when their purpose is to provide financial security for folks in our community. We know it’s possible to support each other without doing harm to others in the process. Pension systems must divest from weapons manufacturers to truly fulfill their promise to benefit our society.
Join CODEPINK co-founder Jodie Evans at her farm near Eugene on February 17th to plan our next steps. Bring your good ideas, your compassion, and your activism skills or desire to learn and we’ll help the team get started. We’ve got our divestment target, Oregon PERS, but the bulk of the work is in front of us. It’s an exciting place to be! We’re teaming up with our colleagues at World Beyond War to build a Statewide coalition to divest Oregon from the war machine. The next steps will require research, growing the coalition by including local organizations who can help, and by planning meetings and testimonies.
