In the midst of the global COVID19 pandemic, Palestinians continue to suffer under Israel's systems of occupation and apartheid. Israeli forces are storming Palestinian cities and assaulting civilians without preventive measures. According to the U.N., over the past two weeks, violence against Palestinians in the West Bank by illegal Israeli settlers has spiked by78% as compared with the rest of the year.
As of April 6, 46 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the Bethlehem Governorate, 78 cases and one death in the Palestinian Authority administrated governorate of Jerusalem, 51 cases in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, and 8 cases in the Hebron Governorate. Over 9,000 Israelis have tested positive for COVID19 and 66 have died. Palestinian prisoners are at extreme risk.

Munther Amira is a Palestinian human rights activist and social worker. He served as the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Union of Social Workers & Psychologists (PUSWP). In December 2017 Munther was arrested by Israeli forces for peacefully protesting for the rights of Palestinian children and youth detained in Israeli military prisons, including his friend Ahed Tamimi. Some of the evidence used to convict Munther of four charges included that he held signs “rebuking the USA” and with activist Ahed Tamimi’s pictured.
