On Tuesday, April 13, Medea Benjamin, Marcy Winograd, and Hanieh Jodat-Barnes will be joined by two special guests for a conversation on closing US military bases abroad:
David Vine, professor and author, Base Nation: How U.S. Military Bases Abroad Harm America and the World, will update us on the work of the Overseas Base Realignment and Closure Coalition.
Christine Ahn, founder of Women Cross DMZ, a global movement to end the Korean War, will discuss growing momentum to close hundreds of US bases overseas.
In February, the Biden administration launched a review of the US military's global presence. That review, slated for completion by mid-2021, comes as the administration shifts its imperial focus from the Middle East to Asia, where, according to the German press, the Pentagon plans to invest $27 billion to station medium-range missiles off China.
Join us for a discussion of strategic base closure demands and resistance to US militarization in the South China Sea. Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link!
