Los Angeles International Day of Action: No War With Iran!

Event Description

The conflict with Iran is by no means over. The people of Iran are still suffering from brutal sanctions that are a form of economic warfare—and Trump just added NEW sanctions. He is also sending more troops to the Middle East, which will only create more enemies. The fallout from the assassination of General Soleimani is not over, and Trump may well ratchet up the confrontation with another reckless attack.

That’s why, on Saturday, January 25, in cities across the US and the globe, CODEPINK is calling on the world to join us for protests against a war with Iran, deadly economic sanctions, and the buildup of troops in the Middle East. We'll need everyone in the streets to call on the Trump Administration to reverse their maximum pressure campaign on Iran and demand that the United States re-enters the Iran nuclear deal.

Make sure you use our activist toolkit to print posters, bring chants, and carry our No War With Iran petition with you to the rally!

    Zarathushti (Zoroastrian)

As a Zarathushti (Zoroastrian) whose ancestors migrated to India to escape religious persecution in their homeland after the Arab Muslim invasion of Iran in seventh century C.E., and who still have cultural sites in Iran, I have sent emails to California Senators Feinstein and Harris and to president Trump reminding them that destroying cultural sites is a war crime, and it would be going down to the level of the fanatical Musllms of Taliban and ISIS who destroyed such sites in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. The religion of Prophet Zarathushtra (Zoroaster as known by Greek philosophers like Plato and Socrates who studied his philosophy and teachings) started in Eastern Iran over 5000 years ago, and became prominent during three Persian empires (from sixth century B.C. to seventh century C.E.).

Alexander (who is known as The Accursed by Iranians) set fire to the palatial complex at Persepolis but the ruins still stand and is one of the cultural heritage sites in Iran, and Greek generals ruled for about 200 years, but Iranians overthrew Greek rule and re-established secular rule with the religion of Zarathushtra being the faith of the rulers and majority citizens by choice.

Being involved in interfaith organizations to educate people about different religions and promoting mutual respect for all religions (which have common basic principles like truth, contentment, justice, compassion, charity, honesty, humility as taught by their founders) I strongly urge all readers to communicate their protest against attacks on religious/cultural sites, to their Congressmen, Senators, and the president.
