Gold Country CODEPINK
Sacramento, CA

Gold country residents have been in attendance all ten days of the Occupy Sacramento solidarity movement, culminating in a large demonstration on Saturday October 15, designated a worldwide day of protest against Wall Street, corporations and the greed of the 1% that has increased poverty and lowered the expectations of the 99% American majority.

Workshops and meetings, sign making and flyer distribution took place all day at Caesar Chavez Park. Cindy Sheehan spoke, and was arrested during the night with 18 others who refused to leave the park, following a march to the capitol steps which Channel 13 news reported totaled about a thousand protesters. A later report stated was one of the largest in the country.

Sunday it was announced that the occupation of the Golden State's capital would continue. Similar demonstrations took place in 140 cities around the nation as well as in major cities around the world.

A demonstration took place also in Sonora which involved about 200 protesters including residents of Amador and Calaveras counties.
