Obama: Bring Our War $$ Home

September 26, 2011
CODEPINK LA
Los Angeles, CA

We were about 60 people from Get Equal, Vets for Peace, ANSWER, Stop FBI LA, MLK Coalition for Jobs Justice and Peace, etc and a group of youth organizing around the upcoming Occupy Los Angeles. The protest was of President Obama, arriving in Los Angeles for a fundraiser at the House of Blues on Sunset.

On the mic was the chant “Occupation in a Crime, from Iraq to Palestine.” The National Lawyers Guild was there looking out for the peace and justice community who were flanked by riot cops, soldiers and uniforms.

Our signs read, “Bring Our War Dollars Home,” “Money for Teachers, Not Tanks,” and “Stop All Wars.” Other demonstrators loved the Make [--] Not War signs, filling in the blank with LBGTQ Rights, Peace and Posters.

We spent a couple of hours together before Obama moved on to his second fundraiser down the street where many more people had gathered to call for economic and social justice, and an end to all wars.

Down the street at Obama's second fundraiser of the evening at the Fig & Olive, CODEPINK was shown on the local news demanding an end to all wars, right now. "Bring the troops and contractors home from Iraq and Afghanistan right now, today." In the background one could spot our white felt "Make SENSE Not War" banner.
