"It was a glorious day! Great speakers, music, and soulfulness!" reported Toby Blome, who has organized our monthly Walk for Peace on the Golden Gate Bridge since winter 2007. Approximately 200 people from our diverse Bay Area community, including students, artists, Afghan-Americans, veterans, newcomers and famous Desiree "Bloody Hands in Condi's Face" Fairooz came together for this stand for peace and sanity on the 10th anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks. Holding pink ribbons made from old CODEPINK banners, the peace marchers stood in a solemn, silent line facing out towards the Bay for several minutes. Signs included "Every day is 9/11 if you're an: Iraqi/Afghani/Pakistani/US military family" and our newest banner, "Create Not Hate." A very lively rally at the north end of the GG Bridge included Fatima Mojaddidy of Afghans for Peace and congressional candidate Norman Solomon, among many others.
