Peace Vigil at the Peace Pole

As the 2011 - 2012 school year started at bucolic St Mary's College, Professor, poet and pinker Brenda Hillman joined with students and colleagues in the peace vigil at the peace pole, in the center of campus.

Brenda handed out quarter-page flyers about the costs of war and how that money should be going to education and scholarships. Interesting conversations among faculty and students about war, peace, and the economy ensued.

A student who is also on the board of the nearby Mt Diablo Peace and Justice Center stopped by to talk about upcoming events and the new student board at the P&J Center.

I took photos for our photo project on the new Create Not Hate website. People enthusiastically did their "writing assignments" - what they prefer to war!
