Osama bin Laden is Dead: Bring Home the Troops!

May 2, 2011

Washington, DC

The day after Osama bin Laden's death, CODEPINK DC gathered in front of the White House to tell President Obama that it is TIME TO BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!!

Now that Osama bin Laden has been killed, there is no pretext for us to continue a military presence in Afghanistan. Furthermore, it is time to get out of Iraq once and for all, and acknowledge the fact that we invaded the country for reasons that were based on lies. We went to find those responsible for the September 11th attacks; now that we have assassinated the mastermind, it is time to bring the troops home. This should be a time for reflection and a shift towards peace, not more war and violence.

Our action brought in a couple dozen CODEPINKers and other activists, and there was a loud crowd admiring our visuals and listening to our messages. Medea, Liz Arizona, and Michael from Nonviolence International all rocked out on the megaphone. There was some strong opposition expressed by a couple spectators, but the situation was neutralized by a simple hug!

Spread the message, and tell Obama: We need a peace president!!
