PINK aprons and war pies with a 54% slice for the military marched by Bath Iron Works where Aegis destroyers are built with a Bring Our War $$ Home message. Joining PeaceWorks and other groups we showed a crowd of 10,000+ what could have been funded instead of war: repair roads and bridges, health care, education, green jobs. Two large puppets leading the peace contingent were crowd pleasers, and many people cheered, clapped, and called out "thank you." We were the sole peace entry in a parade that included a Navy crew from a Trident nuclear submarine. At the end we were able to greet Rep. Chellie Pingree and she heard some good feedback on her recent votes and speeches against the war $$ in the House. | |
