On this dark day in America, we at CODEPINK grieve and send our love to the Jewish community of Pittsburgh.

Today’s horrific shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburg reminds us that we must remain vigilant and committed to the task of dismantling anti-Semitism and all forms of racism. This begins confronting the Trump administration for its role in stoking violence and bigotry and then blaming the victims.

Every country has bigoted violent extremists, but in America, it is uniquely easy for these extremists to obtain military-style weapons. Too many mass shootings in America, including today’s Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, have been carried out with AR-15 assault rifles. As we send our prayers to today’s victims, we also pledge to continue our work to ban these and other military-style weapons from our communities.

For those looking for a place to mourn tonight, we encourage people to join the vigils being organized around America. See a list of vigils here.

Towards a world without hatred and violence,
