Marillyn Hewson: People Before Profits!

SHE MAKES $20 MILLION A YEAR

In 2015, Forbes named Marillyn Hewson, CEO of Lockheed Martin, the highest paid female CEO and “the 20th most powerful woman in the world”.  Hewson fashions herself a role model for women, but her company is selling weapons to the Saudi regime, weapons that are killing and maiming women and children day after day. As CEO of a company whose annual report boasts of being “...proud to stand with our international partners to enhance their capabilities to protect the lives of citizens and build a brighter future…”, it seems like a good time to tell Marillyn Hewson that selling weapons to the repressive Saudi regime will not protect lives of Yemeni citizens nor build a brighter future.

Dear Marillyn A. Hewson,

Please help us engineer a better tomorrow by immediately halting all weapons sales to Saudi Arabia. U.S. supported Saudi bombings of Yemen have caused a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions. As the CEO of Lockheed Martin you have the opportunity to prevent further exacerbation of the crisis in Yemen. Please halt Lockheed Martin weapon sales to Saudi Arabia.

Sincerely,

    Dear Marilyn,

I have had a long relationship with Lockheed Martin, in particular with the production of the Trident 2 D5 submarine missile. I live on a road that dead ends at a Lockheed Martin facility in Santa Cruz County. We have wanted to know for years what environmental impacts its operation may have had on our watershed prior to being regulated by the EPA. In the process I have understood a great deal about the many products of mass destruction that your company produces, and of its privileged position consulting with our government on its national security policies. Not to mention its vast lobbying power! And too, Lockheed Martin holds so many contracts to manage huge databases for the U.S. gov. I know that not all women have a soft spot for supporting life. Some are willing to head up companies that demolish innocent lives in unthinkable numbers, such as the women and children in Yemen who are victims of the weapons your company supplies to the Saudis. I wish that you had a stronger sense of what is right than what is lucrative. I am hoping for some miraculous enlightenment for you!

    Best regards sister!

    Lynda

Your fancy dinners are paid for by the slaughter of innocent children. Are you proud of that?

It breaks my heart to see the devastation done with the use of your weapons used against human beings. Take this opportunity to change the use of your technology. Build homes, build hospitals, innovative air conditioning for the middle east, cooking pans, solar stoves, food containers using your technology and engineering expertise. You would make more money for the corporation and participate in a legacy you could be proud of. Weapons are not befitting a human being’s ingenuity – it is a deathly legacy. What else could you do? Let’s get going on it.
