About the Position:
CODEPINK is a women-led grassroots organization working to end U.S. wars and militarism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect our tax dollars into healthcare, education, healthy jobs and other life-affirming programs.
CODEPINK is seeking an experienced, passionate and hard-working Campaign Manager to support its Divest from the War Machine campaign. In this position you will use your high level of professionalism, strong organizational skills and smart strategic coordination to build power to divest our nation’s financial institutions from the corporations that are making a killing from killing.
This position is a 40 hour per week, remote position, so you can work from wherever you are located.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of campaigning experience in social justice movements, with preference for candidates with experience engaging directly with decision-makers; developing policy; and/or working with diverse coalitions of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is comfortable coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, as well as someone to build relationships with, caretake, and nourish our communities.
* Lead the team to develop and implement campaign strategies to build power and pressure institutions to divest from the war machine;
* Oversee, develop and maintain effective working relationships with strategic local, regional, national and international partners across a multi-faceted divestment movement coalition;
• Work with grassroots organizing team and campaign staff to mobilize grassroots activists;
• Engage directly with decision-makers to create and implement divestment policy;
• Implement agreed-upon campaign activities that build visibility for the campaign and revoke the social license of destructive corporations and build toward creative solutions;
• Design, create and use a range of communications tools (direct actions, direct communication, traditional and social media, briefing sheets, and other tools) to communicate with target audiences and to achieve campaign objectives;
• Write clear, concise and compelling prose for advocacy materials, including blogs, web pages, email and social media content;
• Use traditional and online media strategies to educate supporters, amplify campaign activities, and pressure targets through the media.
• Develop tools and trainings to support a wide variety of campaigns within the divestment coalition;
• Represent CODEPINK at events or within coalitions, as well as act as a public spokesperson for CODEPINK;
• Act as liaison between industry groups and other core audiences to ensure a campaign prescience at key events and with priority decision-makers;
• Train and educate activists and groups in non-violent direct action, media and communication skills, grassroots organizing, and campaign strategy;
• Work openly and cooperatively with other team members;
• Participate in weekly staff meetings.
• 3-5 years of experience working on campaigns for social justice;
• Strong interpersonal skills; organizational, time management and project management skills;
• Proven ability to multi-task and work on multiple deadlines simultaneously, in a fast-paced campaign environment;
• Experience working in diverse coalitions and with both online and in-person organizing;
• Experience and interest in the new economy, peace and justice movements; and/or corporate campaigning;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and drive work independently;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Solid computer skills (MS Office-literate);
• Ability to travel regularly;
• Preference given to candidates with experience with one or more of the following: developing corporate or municipal policy; socially-responsible investment; and/or city-level campaigning a plus.
