Grandmothers Against the War vigil at Rockefeller CenterThe vigil has been ongoing since Jan. 14, 2004, every single Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm on the west side of 5th Ave. between 49 and 50 Sts. 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
This is probably the biggest and best-known regular anti-war vigil in New York City and has been going on for over 6 and a half years. We've never missed a single Wednesday no matter what the weather throws at us. At least 15-20 people participate in the vigil every week -- not just grannies but men (including a regular group of Veterans for Peace), and young people. We are a tourist attraction with many people from all over the world photographing us and engaging in conversation. Media regularly film and write about us.
